IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR CRASH REPORTS
EFFECTIVE JAN. 2013 NPD CAN NO LONGER PROVIDE CRASH REPORTS TO THE PUBLIC OR INSURANCE COMPANIES. THESE REPORTS MUST BE OBTAINED FROM NC DMV BY USING THE REQUEST FORM PROVIDED BY NC DMV. WE HAVE LOCATED THAT FORM ON OUR WEBSITE UNDER THE FORMS AND APPLICATIONS PAGE. YOU CAN ALSO OBTAIN A COPY OF THE REQUEST FORM INSIDE THE NPD LOBBY MON-FRI 8am-5pm. IF YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY HAS ACCESS TO CRASH WEB THEY CAN OBTAIN THE REPORT ONLINE.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may create, but this is in compliance with NC DMV. This new procedure will also reduce the chance for identity theft from
releasing these unredacted reports to third parties.
Welcome to Newport Police Department. The mission of the police department is to strive to insure that Newport is a place where people can live, work and raise a family within a safe and caring community, where law enforcement is seen as professional, courteous, and progressive. Our core values of Integrity, Professionalism, Fairness, Respect, and Teamwork are not just mere words, but the very fiber that holds our organization together. We realize that building, cultivating, and maintaining the community’s trust and respect is the key element in reducing crime here in Newport. Although technology is certainly an asset in today’s world, it can never replace the value of our citizens sharing information with our officers.
We invite you to interact with the community and our officers through the numerous volunteer programs we have within the Newport Police Department, such as the Community Emergency Response Team, Volunteers in Police Services, or Neighborhood Watch. We ask you to determine which program may be best suited for you and join us as we continue to strive toward our mission.
We, the members of the Newport Police Department, will vigorously and continually seek methods to reduce the opportunity for crime, accidents, and loss of individual property. We will improve the frequency of apprehension of those responsible for crime in our community through both the investigative process as well as the positive interaction with our neighbors. We will strive to ensure that Newport is a place where people can live, work, and raise a family within a safe and caring community, where law enforcement is seen as professional, courteous, and progressive.
